Simply, lay the garlic clove on the flat side of the board. Using the flat side of the pestle, press firmly until you hear the skin crack, which can now be easily removed, turn both the board and the pestle around and using them as a pestle and mortar crush the garlic into a paste. Then wipe the tools with soapy water!
